According to the brand, the new show is following the global trends being seeing from streaming platforms that achieve record increases in traffic. The streams are giving brands like Castle Lite the opportunity to keep content rolling.

The show will focus on wrapping up the weekly headlines in a light-hearted way, aiming to give South Africans the opportunity to stay abreast of the latest news while 'enjoying a good laugh'.

"While South Africans continue to play their part and stay safe by observing lockdown regulations, they can now enjoy great content that will give consumers energy and a splash of hope during these uncertain times from the comfort of their own homes," says the team behind the new show.

Castle Lite says that it will continue to 'unlock' new ways of keeping consumers entertained by giving them experiences that they can easily enjoy at home. "The new normal has created massive shifts in digital content consumption," says Castle Lite brand director Silke Bucker.

"As a brand known for creating the most fun and unconventional experiences for our consumers, we were definitely not going to allow the lockdown to stop us. This also presents the brand with the opportunity to further position itself as a thought leader in creating great content," adds Bucker.

The show premiers on Friday, 28 August on Castle Lite's YouTube channel and will be hosted by comedian and media personality Donovan Goliath. Each week, Goliath will host the show from a home in Johannesburg and will open each episode with a short musical interlude by himself and his partner Davina.

Goliath will 'unlock' the week by touching on some of the weekly headlines before moving to the interview segment where he will interview South African stars, while they play fun games and get to know each other better.

The show will additionally be hosting musical performances from various artists. According to Castle Lite, viewers can expect the 'same light-hearted and fun energy' that Goliath is known for, as well as a roundup of the most entertaining headlines of the week.
